HOOPS!? What do you do with THESE??

We were given the opportunity to present a Pro-D workshop at the Physical Education Conference at VIU this semester. As a circus performer and teacher, I was eager to help my peers in their journey to become well rounded, multifaceted professionals. I was joined by two of my cohort to create a resource on Hooping. This unit is intended to provide teachers with the knowledge and confidence to be able to design and teach a unit with the equipment on hand.

Workshop Description

Hoops! Every school gym locker has them. But what can YOU do with them? Join Karina, Heather and Danielle to explore a variety of ways to engage kids of any age and ability with this fantastic, fun, and versatile prop. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED- NO WAIST HOOPING!!! Instant activities, engaging games, and even basic dance choreography (including basic First Nations hoop-dance) will be shared, and an example unit plan will be provided, including resource links and YouTube videos. Everything you need for a dance unit or easy instant activities! Easily applied to cross curricular links with PE and Performing Arts. Intimidated with teaching PE? Make it FUN!
