Standard 7:Educators engage in career-long learning.


Educators engage in professional development and reflective practice, understanding that a hallmark of professionalism is the concept of professional growth over time. Educators develop and refine personal philosophies of education, teaching and learning that are informed by theory and practice. Educators identify their professional needs and work to meet those needs individually and collaboratively.

"Karina has continually searched for relevant teaching materials and resources to provide the best education possible for her students. Throughout her practicum Karina has evaluated and refined her personal philosophies of education through writing and reviewing her personal reflections, daily discussions with her sponsor teacher and discussions with other staff at her school.  She has used her reflections to plan her next lessons daily. Karina has taken part in all the Professional Development opportunities made available during the practicum and used what she learned in her teaching practice. Karina has shown an interest in professional opportunities and seeks them out.  She discussed these with her sponsor teacher.  .
